That Dam Life, Street Photography Amsterdam
Last year I had the chance to experience life in ‘The Dam’ whilst I was lucky enough to be living there for a little while! l often shoot street photography during short city trips outside of Zürich, and when I first arrived I couldn’t believe how many opportunities there were going to be to photograph daily life in such a buzzing city. I love to get up close and really capture the expressions and emotions of the people I’m drawn to photographing (similarly in my approach to photographing weddings), and with space at such a premium in Amsterdam, it lent itself perfectly for me to be able to walk around, right in the thick of all the action, surrounded interesting characters from all over the world. I especially enjoyed capturing the locals - the Dutch seem to have a serious lack of inhibition, which when paired with a city rich in unique culture, ended up being definitely one of my favourite places for street photography.
